Creatives with ADHD
Creative clients bring a unique way of seeing and experiencing the world into their work and home life. “Creatives” are writers, artists, actors, musicians, software designers, and entrepreneurs – but they are also thought leaders, managers, and executives running companies and organizations.
Creative clients living with ADHD may be exceptional in their area of expertise, but can often feel they have never been able to show what they are truly capable of achieving.
Challenges Facing Creatives:
- Containing the constant flow of ideas
- Connecting the flow state of creative vision to action and next steps
- Moving from a hyper-focused engaged state into another task
- Beginning and completing mundane but important work and life tasks
- The ‘dreaded hairy white space’ (the dead zone)
- Planning and organizing tools for the creative brain
The creative client needs a coach who can flow and play, yet knows how to contain – not restrain – ideas and can help you to get to the next desired step.
ADHD Coaching for Creatives:
As a creative coach, I use creative tools to help you organize, plan and problem-solve in ways you have not explored before. I enjoy working with clients who don’t necessarily consider themselves to be creative. The executive director, engineer, business owner and home life manager – as a coach, I help each and every client understand the need and hidden capability in each of us to be creative.
It is my role as a coach to help you engage your intuitive and creative brain, in partnership with your logical, analytical brain, in addressing challenges and accomplishing goals. I will invite you to think in different ways when looking to untangle a problem, begin a challenging project, and particularly when you find yourself feeling stuck.
Humor is certainly an aspect of play and creativity. As a coach, I also bring the ability to take things, even difficult things, with a sense of lightness.
